LUSANNE, SWITZERLAND - hello the mountains...

Wednesday, June 04, 2003 1:32 PM
last night after i got done with the internet, i got back to the room, and met the first of my 3 roomates.. david, a quirky french businessman type. we chatted for a while, him in quite broken english, about this and that. just when i thought i was going, we chatted some more about france's socialistic economy, and a whole bunch of other stuff i really couldn't grasp, since about half of it was in frech. then our other two roomates show up to save the day, melissa and michelle, from wisconsin and chicago. nice girls, they had some wine, so we went down to the lounge and talked for a long while.. they're just finishing up a 3 month backpacking trip, so they had lots of stories and suggestions and what not. quite enjoyable. best part of the night however was then at about midnight walking to the eiffel tower which was a short 5 minute walk, and laying on the grassy park area for a long while. its sooooo beautiful at night. then back to the hostel for sleep.

breakfast was a dry piece of bread and some juice, not too bad, but no smorgasbord like we had in sweden. make my way to the train station to find that due to the freaking strike, the only place in switzerland that i can get to is lusanne, which i had really never even heard of, but i figured what the heck. its right on lake geneva, and well, its simply stunning!!

well, not much time left.. off to interlaken for tomorrow night for 3 nights...
