well, aparently anyway. i shall find out tonight! as i bought me some fresh pesto, and pasta, and as soon as i finish here i'm back to the room to make it. i say room, cause i'm staying in this place, bunk beds in a private room really. it's the oddest thing ever, you have to climb down these skinny stairs off some little street to get there. and litterally, right BELOW the place, is the med. and a 'beach'. i say 'beach', cause here there really are no beaches to speak of, not your garden variety, white soft sand beach anyway. here its big, blacker, harder sand, if any at all. more often, people just climb down, and sprawl out on big rocks.

that doesn't keep this place from being one of the most amazing places i've been though. i've read that it has a way of slowing people's iteraries down, and i believe it. i could stay for weeks. and there's nothing really to do, except hike between these five towns along the sea. a path connects them, and you hike along the cliff, about 1-2 hours between towns. each just a tiny little thing seemingly built right into the cliff. simply amazing. like on the amalfi coast, every corner you come around has you wanting to take another picture because its the most beautiful thing you've ever seen.

yesterday i spent the day hiking and chatting with a guy who was also staying in the room from canada named luis. i swear, i've met more freaking canadians here than ANY other nationality. its weird. twas a good time. took 6 hours to hike the path, hadn't eaten but apples all day, so by the time we got back, i was a tad hungry. mmm, you guessed it, pasta! with a crappy red sauce i might add.

today i had climbed down this huge cliff, down to the mediteranean, pretty much just to take pictures from down there, and to say that i had done it.. on the way up i saw a kid wearing an IOWA HAWKEYES shirt and i nearly crapped.. i ran (as best i could) up this cliff, in my flip flops, lugging my bag, just to talk to him. but he was a crappy high school kid that wasn't as excited to be seeing another iowan as i was. he didn't talk much, then ran off with his group. oh well.

and soon my time in cinque terre will be over. tomorrow i head out early for NICE, FRANCE. hopefully i can get there. i talked with some girls today that said something about having to get off te trains and take buses or something in order to get there. they were there yesterday. stupid french.
