still tooling around barcelona, and it looks like i will be for some time now. at least the remainder of the week. its pretty great here, a nice large city with so very much to do. and we´ve moved into a hostel that´s not to shabby, with lots of good people, and so we´re quite content. next stop is probably pamplona, on sunday or monday, and NO, i won´t wear FLIP FLOPS . haha. it does look like we may be renting a car to get there though, which is crazy sounding but it seems like the most logical option. it gets us there whenever we want.. its cheap with a few people, and it gives us a place to sleep (if we so choose). we met this guy from brazil, carlos, who´s going, and has been living here in spain for some time, so he knows all about it. its crazy to me that its in less than a week. aaaah!
buuuut, until then, lovely barcelona. yesterday jim and i walked around by ourselves, we left vanessa to do some shopping. left to our none descision making selves, we pretty much just wondered. but it was great, its a good city to do that in. for lunch, we decided to try a chorizo sandwich, chorizo being a spicy local sausage. the stock photography picture of it outside all the bars made it look wonderful, so why not? um yeah, after waiting for 25 minutes for it, we finally got our "sandwiches", essentially baguettes with 4-5 dime sized pieces of sausage on them. rediculous! it was quite funny, tasted no different than any other salomi sandwich which has been the staple of our diet for some time now anyways..
then met up again with vaness, and went to a gaudi designed apartment building. its weird, cause i can´t help but wonder if the term gaudy, used to describe things, comes from this guy. his things are amazing, but yeah, gaudi at times. the day before though, his church-under-construction here, la sagrada familia, its one of the most amazing things EVER. it was even more amazing after we stopped in a book store to browse through a book describing every minute detail of the thing. when its done, i swear, its going to be simply amazing.
the city seems to be dominated by gaudi stuff, today i think all we're going to do is head off to a park designed by him, all these flowing benches and buildings and such. probably will sit there all day, i'm in desparate need of getting caught up in my journal.
and MAAYBE, just maybe, we might go tomorrow night to see the roots. they're playing here at some club. gotta figure out tickets though. and the guys running the hostel have been listening to radiohead nonestop, and its making me all itchy, they'll be in madrid on the 16th, and well, so will i. i'm just going to show up at the venue, and see what happens i think. sounds like a good plan to me.
well, 10 minutes left. i'm able to rent a full featured computer here, so i'm in the process of getting up ALL of my pictures! it takes some time though, things are always slooooow. this place is open 24 hours, and we're in barcelona for long enough to where its not a problem for me to carve out some time to do it. i have to anyway, i'm almost out of "film". sooo, be looking for those here in the next few days...
mmmm kay, time to go, tis a lovely day here.. 27 i think. i swear, by the time i get home, i will no longer be able to communicate with americans. my sense of weights and measures will be completely screwed up. tis weird.
