well, an entire CITY has happened since the last update. york has come and gone, and though i actually had internet access there (gasp!), for whatever stupid reason, my website was down when i went to update, so alas, no entry from there. oh well, i managed to forget to get postcards from there as well. york may well fade from memory.
not really though, as it was really quite a nice city. of the 3, bath, stow and york, i do believe i enjoyed it the most. who knows why really. probably cause it wasn't hilly like bath, but also it had a lovely old town, bustling with people and shops, and countless other things to see. and i must admit, i was more than happy to drop off the car there, and end the pressure of having to navigate, and george having to drive, and all that jazz. yup, trains work just fine for me thanks.
and thus we trained it to london, yesterday morning. trains here are completely different than in any other part of europe: they're nice. open seating, like a plane, instead of those stupid clunky old compartments. it really makes for a much more pleasant ride. buut, as with EVERYTHING in the uk, you pay for such a luxury. i honestly don't think i would be able to afford to EAT here, were i on mine own, let alone get somewhere on the train. maybe i'm just used to being able to hop on a train without paying, but STILL, come on. hurray i suppose for such carriers as ryanair, who i've yet to fly with, but wish i could, as the flight around the uk are generally free. who knows how, but they're free. and thats a price i can deal with.
so, the four of us are farting around lovely, frantic london for the next few days. last night we had a rather BIZARRE, but wonderful dinner at an anatolian (?) restaurant, followed by a show at the globe theatre. marlowe's, edward II, in my opinion, much better than shakespeare's 'titus andronicus' (or as george refers to it as, 'tiberius anacondus'), which we had seen just nights before. the globe, rebuilt to match (as best as possible) shakespeare's original globe, was a sight to be seen. open on the top, thatched roof, hard wooden seats, the works. we, luckily, had seats under the roof. luckily, because those people who were on the floor, stood for the whole 3+ hours. oh, and it monsooned for quite some time during the show, so they got a little wet. hurray for roofs and seats.
and today, off to see more of london's stuffs. such is the life of the tourist. ha.
