i'm doing something that i never thought would happen. i'm now sitting in heathrow airport, typing my very last european journal entry. five months, more or less gone. i can't freaking believe it. i blinked, and all of a sudden its time to go home. damn blinking.
yes, it is sooner than originally planned, and yes i HAD planned on staying an extra month or so to visit friends and such, but circumstances as they are back home, i couldn't see myself bumming around any more, basically killing time. that coupled with the fact that i've juuuust about had my fill of sights, all add up to dusty going home. i couldn't be more excited about it. its an odd feeling really, i know i'm just going to be in shock for a little while, but at least for the past 2 weeks i've been in a country where they speak english, so at least the whole 'they're speaking ENGLISH' thing is over. its the little stuff that will be the hardest i think. and leaving the not-a-care-in-the-world-nor-a-responsibility lifestyle. THAT will probably be the hardest. ho hum. more on all my reflections and whatnots upon my return home. final thoughts and such. when i'm not paying $12/hour for the internet access.
it HAS been a great past 2 weeks though, here in the uk. as is typical of a di & george vacation, i got to do tons that i wouldn't have otherwise have been able to do. and this time especially. the last few days in particular have been pretty much filled with interesting and exciting things, allow me to recap...
sunday, after deciding to come home early, and getting my plane crap squared away, we spent a nice morning at the national art gallery or whatever it is. a fine collection of art, this time layed out "correctly", in chronological order, as opposed to the (in my opinion) wacky 'subject' ordering we had seen at the tate modern. like most great art halls, too much wonderful stuff to soak up all at once. you could spend forever in there.
buuuut, we didn't have forever, for it was off to the sunday matinee performance of the LION KING! at long last, i was able to see this amazing show. seriously, one of the MOST AMAZING things i've ever seen. the staging and the costumes and the technical things are some of the most awe inspiring i've ever seen. the opening sequence alone, with sunrise, and a full sized elephant, and all the other animals. WOW. i could watch them simply raise the sun over and over and over again..
well damn. out of time. next entry: stateside. godspeed to me..
