From the SvN Blog, a list of Entrepreneurial Proverbs posted by Marc Hedlund. These things are so relevant to a lot of the stuff I'm reading into these days. A few gems...
Work only with people you like and believe in -- I once heard Eric Schmidt say something along the lines of, "The older I get, the more I think all that matters is working with people you like." If you're smart and talented, you're probably going to like a lot of smart and talented people.
Something I struggle with... find a need...
Cool ideas are useless without great needs -- this is the classic engineers' entrepreneurial mistake (or at least I'd like to think so, since I've made it). Techies love tech, and a new technology can produce a lot of companies that don't really meet a need.
Very 37signals-esque....
Build the simplest thing possible -- engineers have the hardest time with this, with not overdesigning for the need they're addressing.
And soooo many more...
ETech sounds like it's incredible. If it's good enough for Joel's folks, it's good enough for me. I wish I were there.
