Moving On

Monday, March 20, 2006 5:13 PM

For those of you that don't know already, Friday was my last day working at Genesis Systems. I've been looking for a new job for some time now, and last Friday I finally excepted a position with C & A Industries.

The position will be doing .NET 2.0 development, both web and windows stuff. I'm excited about the opportunity to work on a large project again, and certainly am excited to be working with the latest and greatest of technologies.

Quitting Genesis was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. For the past 2 years, I've poured my heart and soul into that place, consistantly going above and beyond in an effort to grow the company, please the customers, etc etc. However, for some time I've known that I had exhausted any and all growth opportunities there, and that it was time to move on.

I certainly wish Genesis the best. I made many great friends there, and I hope to be able to keep in contact with them for many years to come.

Too bad you kept it quiet that you were looking around. We have been/still are looking for a good dev or two.

The company we're consulting at almost switched to .NET 2.0. Spiffy stuff. Especially C#'s anonymous delegates. Its like blocks. I wish Java 5 had those.

Stephen - I actually *was* going to give you a call, as I was trying to tap all of the networking resources that I had. Unfortunately, interviews started coming in, and I was completely swamped. Juggling multiple interviews, all the while keeping things quiet, turned out to be a daunting exercise.

We should get together sometime soon for lunch and catch up. I'd love to hear about the things you guys are working on these days. Send me an email when you get a chance: dusty [at] dustyd.net

As .NET 2.0, I'm *really* excited about being able to play with some of the new features. Anonymous delegates are certainly one of these. Looks like they enable some very elegant and concise code. This page shows a nice example of thread-safe method invocation using anon delegates... http://weblogs.asp.net/rosherove/archive/2006/03/01/439309.aspx

Bastard. You didn't even tell me you were moving. I had to pull one of those, "Hey, [boss of your previous employer], I haven't seen Dusty around for a while".
