I had a bit of a flashback to college the other day when i stumbled upon an article about the college classified listing site Chegg.com. You see, back in my college days at Iowa State, some computer science classmates of mine started up a simliar service by the name of CheggPost.
Sure enough, Chegg.com's about page concludes that it is indeed the same CheggPost from the old days...
Chegg.com (formerly known as cheggpost.com) was first launched at Iowa State University (ISU) by a group of students to purchase and resell used textbooks. Since thriving at ISU, Chegg.com has blossomed to include more than 35 colleges and has expanded its categories to include furniture, event tickets, housing, computers and electronics
It's facinating to me that they've transitioned the old site to be "Web 2.0", and are making a go at it. Classified sites are gaining a lot of traction these days, especially the niche area of college classifieds. TechCrunch has a writeup about DormItem, a competitor, and mentions Chegg a number of times. I find it funny that Marshall doesn't like the look of the site, but others do...
Those services [Chegg, CollegeMedium] look like a nightmare to use, but DormItem’s very simple interface and contemporary features appeal to me much more. (Note: My impression of the interfaces at CollegeMedium and Clegg appear to be widely disagreed with, see comments and make up your own mind of course.)
I of course think that Chegg looks fantastic. A standout design, VERY web 2.0, though not over done. MUCH better than how I remember it. Plus, they seem to have grown up a bit... Pay close attention to the CheggPost Poll in the image below. Haha.

I wish these guys the best of luck. Really, I'm quite jealous. They seem to have a good thing going.
Oh, and did I mention that it's written in ASP.NET? Nice.
